3G and 4G auction a landmark event in Pakistan’s telecom history

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Privatization Muhammad Zubair has said that launching of 3G technology will create jobs and strengthen the economy in the country.
Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said that the 3G and 4G spectrum auction is a landmark event in the Pakistan's telecom history.
Country Director of Google Pakistan, Badar Khushnood also said that Pakistan's economy will gear up by using of this technology.
CEO Netsol Technologies Khawaja Saleem Ghori said: "The process for 3G and 4G licenses that concluded at $902.82 will increase employment opportunities in Pakistan."
Former President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Saeed Shafique said it is a major jump in the technology. The wireless network technology will help boost data transfer speeds to 200 kilobits per second, he added.
Taking part in the programme, Senior Advisor Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) Brigadier Muhammad Yaseen also said that "3G technology will further advance Smart phone technology introduced in the third generation".
In his comments, economist Professor Tauseef Akhtar said 3G technology will be capable of handling around two megabits data per second.
He said it will help students get required information within few seconds. The technology will play vital role in growth and development of economy, he added.
