LIBERAL Party officials who try to privately influence government MPs as “strategic consultants’’ or “legal consultants” without identifying themselves as lobbyists face tough new regulations to limit influence-peddling after the resignation of NSW premier Barry O’Farrell.
Party officials will be forced to declare they are lobbyists and will have to choose between party positions and trying to exert influence.
