Dubai: Delhi Daredevils skipper Dinesh Karthik stressed on the importance of the innings played by JP Duminy in their thrilling win over Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday. Chasing 167, Duminy took Delhi home with an unbeaten 35-ball 52.
“It was a brilliant knock he’s a world-class player, he’s able to stand his ground under pressure and hit the big shots when it matters and knock the ball around — he’s somebody who is very confident and key to our batting plans,” said Karthik, leading the side in Kevin Pietersen’s injury induced absence.
“We were playing good cricketing shots and getting boundaries and we weren’t panicking at any stage and we were running well between wickets. So it was a good partnership (58 runs in 7.3 overs).”
Meanwhile KKR’s Manish Pandey, who scored 48 said, “It’s been a long IPL journey. A little bad luck on this one, but hoping for a better season.”
