Basketball fans were shocked by LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s incredibly racist rant which was recorded on April 9 by his girlfriend, V. Stiviano, after she posted a photo to her Instagram of herself with ex-Lakers superstar Magic Johnson.

Today, in news that is awful yet unsurprising, Donald Sterling, owner of the LA Clippers, has once again reminded us all that he is an unrepentant racist. On April 9, his girlfriend V. Stiviano – notably, of black and Mexican heritage — posted a photo of herself with Magic Johnson, legendary ex-point guard for the LA Lakers. Well, Donald — who has made racist remarks many times in the past — didn’t take too kindly to V. “broadcasting” her “[association] with black people,” and his crazy, archaic, nonsensical rant was recorded by V. and has now been released. Donald Sterling’s Racist Rant — He Doesn’t Want Black People At His Games

Here are some of Donald’s greatest (read: craziest) hits during his rant, courtesy of TMZ:
“It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you’re associating with black people. Do you have to?” (3:30)
– “You can sleep with [black people]. You can bring them in, you can do whatever you want. The little I ask you is not to promote it on [Instagram] … and not to bring them to my games.” (5:15)
– “I’m just saying, in your lousy f******* Instagrams, you don’t have to have yourself with, walking with black people.” (7:45)
– “…Don’t put him [Magic] on an Instagram for the world to have to see so they have to call me. And don’t bring him to my games.” (9:13)
Charming, right?

Magic Johnson Speaks Out Against Donald Sterling

Magic Johnson has released a statement about Donald’s hateful remarks, telling TMZ that “It’s a shame that Donald Sterling feels that way about African-Americans. He has a team full of amazing African-American basketball players that are working to bring a championship to Clippers fans.”
Magic added that “The Clippers also have a strong minority fan base.” Will that continue to be the case?

Donald Sterling Was Sued By The Department Of Justice For Housing Discrimination

This isn’t the first time that Donald has been outed as a racist, but hopefully this time actual consequences will befall him.
In the early 80s, the Clippers were seeking a new coach and were interested in hiring Rollie Masimino, whom Donald asked: “I wanna know why you think you can coach these n******.” Later, Rollie said that he would never work for “that son of a b****.” Who can blame him?
In 2006, he was sued by the Department of Justice for housing discrimination — the real estate mogul was refusing to rent to black people and families with children.
Not only is it frankly unbelievable that a person can be so incredibly racist and get away with it – especially in 2014 – but that they continually profit off of the people that they so publicly hate. After all, the majority of Clippers players are black. And his girlfriend is half-black! What is happening, here? How is Donald Sterling allowed to have authority and power? This kind of discrimination is totally unacceptable and it’s about time that he face some real consequences.
Unfortunately, because he owns the Clippers, it’s not like his authority can be taken away; however, we can only hope that he will receive fines from the NBA, at the very least, and that public outcry may pressure him to sell the team and wash his hands of basketball altogether.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Were you shocked by his rant? Should he be removed from his position of power within the NBA?
